Thoriso Magongwa kam mit zwölf Jahren zum Ballet Theatre Afrikan. Er tourte als BTA-Solo­­tänzer quer durch Südafrika und ist inzwischen gefeierter Gaststar auf Ballettgalas rund um den Erdball. Er hat Südafrika in den renommiertesten internationalen Ballett-Wettbewerben vertreten. Als Finalist bei der Helsinki International Ballet Competition im Jahr 2005 wurde er unter die Top 15 der weltbesten Tänzer gewählt. Seit 2014 tanzt er beim NdB Balet, Tschechien.

Thoriso Magongwa is one of the most technically accomplished male dancers of his generation. Trained since the age of twelve at Ballet Theatre Afrikan, and a founder member of its Youth Company and professional company, Magongwa has toured the length and breadth of South Africa as BTA’s principal dancer. He has represented South Africa in the most prestigious international ballet competitions. His most recent success was achieving finalist at the Helsinki International Ballet competition during 2005, one of the top 15 of the world’s finest dancers. Since 2014 he is a member of the NdB Balet.

Li Anlin wurde in Nanjing, China geboren. Mit 13 Jahren begann er an der Pekinger Tanzakademie zu trainieren und trat nach seinem Schulabschluss der „Young Dancers Company“ bei. 1982 trat er dem zentralen Ballett von China bei (jetzt das Cinesische Nationalballett) und wurde 1985 von Ivan Nagy eingeladen, sich dem „Ballett de Santiago“ anzuschließen. 1989 holte der legendäre Choreograph Ben Stevenson (bekannt aus „Maos letzter Tänzer“) ihn zum „Houston Ballet“ als ersten Solotänzer. Li ist seit 2005 „Assistant Artistic Director“ beim Texas Ballet Theatre. Auch Li Anlin, war in der gleichen Klasse mit Xijang Fu (der letzten Sommer bei uns einen Worshop gab) und Li Cunxin (Autor des Buches „Maos Letzter Tänzer“).

Li Anlin was born in Nanjing, China. At age 13 he began training with Beijing Dance Academy and joined the Young Dancers Company upon graduation. In 1982, he joined the Central Ballet of China (now the National Ballet of China) and in 1985 was invited by Ivan Nagy to join Ballet de Santiago. In 1989, Mr. Stevenson invited him to join Houston Ballet as a Soloist. Li has been the Assistant Artistic Director at TBT since 2005.

Kathryn Warakomsky-Li, aus Boston, MA, begann ihre Ballett-Studien mit Oleg Tupin im relativ späten Alter von 14 in Springfield, Virginia. Sie absolvierte die staatliche Universität von New York at Purchase with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance. Nach Ihrer Ausbildung wurde sie eingeladen, sich dem „Ballett de Santiago“ unter der Leitung von Ivan Nagy anzuschließen. 1989 trat Kathryn Warakomsky dem „Houston Ballet“ bei und stieg zu Solotänzerin auf. Nach Beendigung ihrer Karriere als Tänzerin holte das Houston Ballet unter Ben Stevenson sie um an der Academy zu unterrichten. Kathryn Warakomsky-Li unterrichtet seit 2003 an der Texas Ballet Theatre School in Fort Worth. Sie hat ihr pädagogisches Zertifikat beim „American Ballet Theatre (ABT) absolviert und sich darüber hinaus in Moskau und St. Petersburg an den Bolschoi und Vaganova Akademien fortgebildet. Seit 2007 ist sie „Principal of Texas Ballet Theatre School Fort Worth“ und seit 2016 zum „Associate Director“ ernannt und leitet die professionellen Ausbildungsklassen. Ebenso hat sie die begehrten „Summer Intensive“ 2007 ins Leben gerufen. Für diese Kurse wird USA-weit vorgetanzt, da sie ein Sprungbrett in die Akademie sind.

Kathryn Warakomsky-Li, originally from Boston, MA, began her ballet studies at the relatively late age of 14 in Springfield, Virginia with Oleg Tupine. She graduated from the State University of New York at Purchase with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance. She was invited to join the Ballet de Santiago under the direction of Ivan Nagy where she rose to the status of principal dancer. In 1989 Ms. Warakomsky joined Houston Ballet and became Principal dancer. She has over 20 years performing experience dancing lead roles in all the major classical ballets. She also danced in numerous contemporary works by Ben Stevenson, George Balanchine, Jiri Kylian, Kenneth MacMillan, John Cranko, Ronald Hynd, James Kudelka and Christopher Bruce among others. Ms. Warakomsky-Li has toured extensively around the world dancing throughout North and South America, Asia and Europe. Upon retiring from the stage in 2001, Ms. Warakomsky-Li was invited to teach at Houston Ballet Ben Stevenson Academy. Ms. Warakomsky-Li has been teaching for Texas Ballet Theater School in Fort Worth since 2003 where she has taught all levels of the school. She is an American Ballet Theatre (ABT) Certified Teacher who has successfully completed the ABT Teacher Training in Primary through Level 7 of the ABT National Training Curriculum®. She has also traveled to Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia to view the Bolshoi and the Vaganova Schools and to participate in their training programs. Ms. Warakomsky-Li was named Principal of Texas Ballet Theater School Fort Worth in January 2007 and in 2016 was promoted to Associate Director and heads the Professional Division. Ms. Warakmosky-Li has also managed the Summer Intensive since its inception in 2007.

Jorge Barani, absolvierte die berühmte National School of Arts in Havanna, Kuba im Jahr 2010. Seine berufliche Karriere begann im Nationalen Ballett von Kuba, wo er als Solist in Balletten wie Fairy Doll, Romeo und Julia, La Fille Mal Gardee, Dracula und andere tanzte. Im Jahr 2012 trat er dem „Ballett de Monterrey“ in Mexiko und im Jahr 2013, dem „Artistic Ballett-Theater“ von Florida in Miami bei. Jorge Barani ist eines ger größten Talente unserer Zeit und gastierte mit Anfang 20 bereits mit dem Londoner Royal Ballet. Er brilliert besonders in den spektakulären Variationen von Le Corsaire, Don Quixote und Flames of Paris. Im Jahr 2013 gewann Jorge Barani die Doppel-Goldmedaille im Weltwettbewerb in Orlando, Florida, in 2015 die Silbermedaille im koreanischen Internationalen Ballettwettbewerb und in 2016 die Silbermedaille bei dem „Vienna International Ballet Experience“ (VIBE) Wettbewerb. Im vergangenen Sommer gewann er die Silbermedaille beim Varna International Ballet Wettbewerb in Varna, Bulgarien, dem wohl rennommiertesten Wettbewerb für Profi-Tänzer. Beim Kentucky Ballet Theatre tanzt er in seiner dritten Saison als erster Solotänzer alle Hauptrollen in den klassischen und zeitgenössischen Werken und gastiert als Stargast auf Galas in den USA und Europa.

Jorge Barani, graduated from the National School of Arts in Havana, Cuba in 2010. His professional career started in National Ballet of Cuba where he performed important roles in ballets such as Fairy Doll, Romeo and Juliet, La Fille Mal Gardee, Dracula and others. In 2012, he joined Ballet de Monterrey in Mexico and in 2013, Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida in Miami. Previously, Mr. Barani has also been invited to perform with the London’s Royal Ballet. His international roles include Le Corsaire Pas de Deux, Black Swan Pas de Deux, Don Quixote Pas de Deux, Flames of Paris Pas de Deux to mention a few of them. In 2013 Mr. Barani won the Gold Medal in the World Competition in Orlando, Florida, in July 2015 he won the Silver Medal in the Korean International Ballet Competition, and in January 2016, Jorge won the Silver Medal at the Vienna International Ballet Experience (VIBE) competition. This past summer he won the Silver Medal at the Varna International Ballet Competition in Varna, Bulgaria. This will be his third season as the principal male dancer with Kentucky Ballet Theatre and his third Ballet Under the Stars. Jorge Barani also performs as a principal guest artist for galas and special performances in the United States and Europe.
